Applying to University – Find Out How Clearing Works

The UCAS Portal is the primary method that most applicants use when applying for university. If you are about to graduate from college and are on the verge of completing your A levels, you should set up a profile on UCAS and start exploring your options. You will need to apply for university through UCAS and then wait for offers. It’s important that you start applying as early as possible if you want to boost your chances of getting into university. However, many people still don’t get offers from the university that they want. Does that mean you can’t get into university this season? Obviously not! It just means that you will have to take a slightly different approach, and take advantage of clearing.

What is Clearing?

Clearing 2018 is only applicable for people who are applying after the 30th of June, as well as those that haven’t received any offers, or if you have received offers that you don’t want to accept. If you can’t meet the conditions outlined in the offer, you might want to apply through Clearing 2018.

Basically, clearing is the process through which universities and colleges fill up spaces in different courses. It’s the optimal solution for people who want to switch courses. You can search for courses that have vacancies or if you want courses that interest you, you can just contact the university directly and see if they will offer you a place in the course.

If you haven’t sent an application yet, you might want to register on the UCAS portal and build your profile. Once you have made your profile, you will receive a welcome email along with a series of steps that you need to follow. You can then search for vacancies on the UCAS portal and use the search tool to find out which courses have space. Once you have received permission from a university about any course that you want to attend, you can then add it to your Track. Once your results arrive and are updated, you can then follow the course application. If you already applied for a course prior to Clearing, you will probably have to pay a bit more to apply via Clearing.

Get Clearing Advice

Before you start applying for different courses through Clearing, it is important that you get advice from people first. You can talk to your local guidance counsellor to find out what they have to say. You can check and compare different courses that are available when making your decision. You might want to send an email to the local colleges and universities and see what they have to say. It’s important that you carefully track and do your research first about different courses before making your decision. You need to make sure that the university confirms your place for the course. If you have any doubt, it’s recommended that you first discuss with the careers office first before making your decision.
